Ingredients

1 lb ground beef

3 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)

1 cup long-grain white rice

2 cups beef broth (or water)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 medium onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional toppings: sliced green onions, sesame seeds

Instructions

Cook the Rice:

    - In a medium saucepan, combine rice and beef broth (or water). Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15-18 minutes until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes.

      Sauté the Vegetables:

        - While the rice is cooking, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

          Brown the Beef:

            - Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess grease if necessary.

              Add Broccoli:

                - Stir in the broccoli florets. If using fresh broccoli, cook for 3-5 minutes until they are bright green and just tender. If using frozen, stir in directly until heated through.

                  Season:

                    - Add soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), and season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir well to combine all ingredients.

                      Combine with Rice:

                        - Fluff the cooked rice with a fork, then add it directly into the skillet with the beef and broccoli mixture. Stir everything together until evenly combined.

                          Add Cheese:

                            - Reduce the heat to low and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Cover the skillet with a lid and let it sit for 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted.

                              Serve:

                                - Serve the cheesy beef and broccoli rice mixture in bowls. Top with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
