8 oz fettuccine or pasta of choice

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp butter

1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Juice of 1 lemon

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions
 

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the fettuccine according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.

    Sauté the Shrimp: In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using), cooking for about 1 minute until fragrant.

      Add the Shrimp: Season the shrimp with salt and black pepper. In the same skillet, add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.

        Make the Cream Sauce: In the same skillet, lower the heat and pour in the heavy cream. Stir continuously, scraping the bottom of the pan to incorporate all those flavorful bits. Allow the cream to simmer for about 3-4 minutes until it thickens slightly.

          Combine Ingredients: Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and combined. If the sauce is too thick, add some of the reserved pasta water until the desired consistency is reached. Stir in the lemon juice and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper.

            Toss the Pasta and Shrimp: Add the cooked pasta and shrimp back into the skillet, tossing well to coat everything evenly with the sauce. Heat everything through for an additional minute.
