Ingredients

2 large apples (your choice of varieties like Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Granny Smith)

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon granulated sugar (optional)

Juice of half a lemon

Pinch of salt

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 225°F (110°C), allowing for a low and slow drying process.

Prepare the Apples: Wash the apples thoroughly. Core them and slice them into thin rounds (about 1/8 inch thick) using a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife. The thinner the slices, the crispier the chips will be.

Toss with Lemon Juice: In a large bowl, toss apple slices with lemon juice to prevent browning and add flavor.

Season the Apples: In a small bowl, combine ground cinnamon, granulated sugar, and a pinch of salt. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the apple slices, making sure each slice is coated lightly.

Arrange on the Baking Sheet: Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Arrange the apple slices in a single layer, making sure they don’t overlap, as this will help them crisp up better.

Bake the Apples: Place the baking sheets in the preheated oven. Bake for about 2 hours. After 1 hour, flip the apple slices to ensure even drying.

Check for Crispiness: After 2 hours, check the chips. They should be dry and crisp, but baking time can vary depending on the thickness of the slices and the type of apples. If needed, continue baking for an additional 30 minutes.

Cool and Store: Once done, remove the apple chips from the oven and let them cool completely on the baking sheets. They will become crispier as they cool. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
