Ingredients

4 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

1/4 cup coconut flakes (optional)

Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking dish or a similar-sized casserole dish with butter or cooking spray.

Prepare the Bananas: In a medium bowl, toss the sliced bananas with lemon juice to prevent browning. Layer the bananas evenly in the prepared baking dish.

Make the Crumble Topping: In another bowl, combine the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt. Mix well to ensure everything is evenly distributed.

Incorporate the Butter: Add the softened butter to the dry ingredients. Use your fingers or a fork to blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. If using, fold in the chopped walnuts and coconut flakes for added crunch and flavor.

Assemble the Dish: Sprinkle the crumble topping evenly over the bananas in the baking dish, making sure every banana slice is covered.

Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the bananas are bubbling.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.
