Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour

1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast

1 tsp sugar

1 tsp salt

1 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)

2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

1 tbsp fresh chives, chopped

1 tsp garlic powder

1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

Activate the Yeast: In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.

Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Add the melted butter, egg, and yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead: Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Add Cheese & Herbs: Incorporate the shredded cheddar, grated Parmesan, chopped parsley, chives, and garlic powder into the dough. Knead gently until the ingredients are evenly distributed.

First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.

Shape the Rolls: Punch the dough down, then divide it into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased baking dish.

Second Rise: Cover the rolls with a kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Egg Wash: Beat the remaining egg and brush it over the tops of the rolls for a golden finish.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes until the rolls are golden brown and sound hollow when tapped.

Cool and Serve: Remove the rolls from the oven, let them cool slightly, and serve warm with butter or your favorite jam.
