4 cups fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces

1 cup creamy mushroom soup (canned or homemade)

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 cup crispy fried onions

½ cup milk

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Blanch the Green Beans: In a large pot of salted boiling water, add the green beans and blanch for about 4-5 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and immediately transfer to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Drain again and set aside.

Prepare the Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the creamy mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well.

Add Cheese and Beans: Fold in the fresh green beans and half of the sharp cheddar cheese into the mixture, ensuring the beans are evenly coated.

Assemble the Casserole: Pour the green bean mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Spread it out evenly. Top with the remaining sharp cheddar cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, and half of the crispy fried onions.

Bake the Casserole: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.

Add the Fried Onions: Remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle the rest of the crispy fried onions on top. Return to the oven for an additional 5-7 minutes until the onions are crispy and golden brown.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let it sit for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving. Enjoy your cheesy, delicious green bean casserole bake!
