Ingredients

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional, pecans or walnuts work great)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). Prepare a 9x13 inch baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar. Mix until well combined and it appears smooth.

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the blondies tough.

Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) until they are evenly distributed throughout the batter.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly using a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs. The edges should be lightly golden.

Allow the blondies to cool in the pan on a wire rack for about 10-15 minutes. Once cool enough to handle, lift them out using the parchment paper (if used) and let them cool completely on the rack.

Cut into squares and serve. Enjoy your delightful blondies!
