Ingredients

2 cans (11 oz each) refrigerated cinnamon rolls

4 large eggs

1 cup milk (whole or 2%)

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

1/2 cup raisins (optional)

1 cup cream cheese frosting (included in the cinnamon roll packages or homemade)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

Prepare the Cinnamon Rolls: Open the cans of cinnamon rolls and separate each roll. Cut each roll into quarters and place them evenly in the prepared baking dish.

Mix the Custard: In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

Combine and Add Nuts and Raisins: Pour the egg mixture over the cinnamon roll pieces in the dish. If you're using nuts and raisins, sprinkle them evenly over the top. Gently press down on some of the cinnamon roll pieces to ensure they soak up the custard mixture.

Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is set in the center and the cinnamon rolls are golden brown.

Prepare the Frosting: While the casserole is baking, if you're making homemade cream cheese frosting, beat together 4 oz. cream cheese, 1/4 cup butter (softened), 1 cup powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

Glaze the Casserole: Once the casserole is finished baking, remove it from the oven. Allow it to cool for about 5 minutes, then drizzle the cream cheese frosting over the top while it's still warm, allowing it to melt into the nooks and crannies.

Serve and Enjoy: Cut yourself a generous portion, serve warm, and enjoy the comforting flavors of this delicious cinnamon roll casserole with family and friends!
