Ingredients

For the Fish:

1 lb white fish fillets (e.g., cod, tilapia)

1 cup buttermilk

1 teaspoon lime juice

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon cumin

½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for spice)

½ teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

Cooking spray

For the Tacos:

8 small corn or flour tortillas

1 cup red cabbage, thinly sliced

1 avocado, sliced

½ cup fresh cilantro, chopped

Lime wedges, for serving

½ cup pico de gallo or salsa

½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt (optional)

Instructions

Marinate the Fish: In a medium bowl, combine buttermilk and lime juice. Add the fish fillets and ensure they are fully coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (up to 2 hours for more flavor).

Prepare the Breading: In a separate shallow dish, mix together the flour, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and black pepper.

Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.

Coat the Fish: Remove the marinated fish from the refrigerator. Let any excess buttermilk drip off, then dredge each fillet in the seasoned flour mixture, ensuring an even coating. Transfer the coated fillets to a plate.

Air-Fry the Fish: Lightly spray the fish fillets with cooking spray. Place them in a single layer in the air fryer basket (you may need to work in batches). Air-fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fish is golden brown and crispy. Check for doneness (the internal temperature should reach 145°F or 63°C).

Warm the Tortillas: While the fish is cooking, warm the tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat or in the microwave for a few seconds until soft.

Assemble the Tacos: Flake the crispy fish into large pieces and distribute evenly among the warmed tortillas. Top with sliced red cabbage, avocado, and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro. Add a spoonful of pico de gallo or salsa on top, and drizzle with sour cream or Greek yogurt, if desired.

Serve: Enjoy the tacos immediately, garnished with lime wedges for a spritz of freshness!
