Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon instant yeast

1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F)

2 tablespoons olive oil (plus extra for brushing)

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (oregano, basil, or thyme)

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center and add the warm water and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. Form it into a ball, place it in a lightly oiled bowl, and cover with a clean cloth. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Shape the Breadsticks: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide the dough into 10 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long cylinder (about 6-8 inches) and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Garlic Mixture: In a small bowl, mix the minced garlic, dried herbs, red pepper flakes (if using), black pepper, and a couple of tablespoons of olive oil to form a paste.

Brush the Breadsticks: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Brush each breadstick with the garlic mixture, making sure to coat them evenly for maximum flavor. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese generously over the top of each.

Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the breadsticks are golden brown and crispy.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and then garnish with fresh parsley. Serve warm with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
