Crispy Mozzarella Stuffed Bites

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

2 cups panko breadcrumbs

8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, cut into bite-sized cubes

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp dried oregano

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp black pepper

Vegetable oil for frying

Marinara sauce for dipping (optional)

Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

Prepare the Breading Station: Set up three shallow dishes. In the first dish, place the all-purpose flour. In the second dish, whisk the eggs until well combined. In the third dish, mix the panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.

    Stuff the Mozzarella: Take a cube of mozzarella and dip it into the flour, ensuring it’s well coated. Then, dip it into the egg, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, roll it in the panko mixture, pressing gently to ensure the crumbs adhere well. Repeat with all mozzarella cubes.

      Chill the Bites: Place the breaded mozzarella bites on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and put them in the freezer for about 30 minutes. This will help them maintain their shape while frying.

        Heat the Oil: In a deep skillet or pot, pour in enough vegetable oil to submerge the bites (about 2-3 inches deep). Heat the oil to approximately 350°F (175°C) over medium heat.

          Fry the Bites: Once the oil is hot, carefully add the mozzarella bites in small batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and drain on paper towels.

            Serve: Arrange the crispy mozzarella stuffed bites on a serving platter. Garnish with fresh basil if desired. Serve with warm marinara sauce for dipping.
