Ingredients

1 lb fresh asparagus, trimmed

3 tbsp unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

Zest and juice of 1 large lemon

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste

2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Asparagus: Rinse the asparagus under cold water and trim the tough ends. Dry them with a paper towel or dishcloth to remove excess moisture.

Cook the Asparagus: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of the butter. Once melted and bubbly, add the asparagus. Sauté for about 5–7 minutes or until the asparagus is tender yet still crisp, tossing occasionally.

Add the Garlic: Push the asparagus to one side of the skillet. Add the remaining tablespoon of butter and the minced garlic to the empty side. Sauté the garlic for about 30 seconds, stirring frequently until fragrant (be careful not to burn it).

Combine & Season: Stir the asparagus back into the garlic mixture. Add the lemon zest, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes, if using. Toss everything together until well combined. Season with salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste.

Finish & Serve: If desired, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top while the asparagus is still warm. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving.

Enjoy: Serve hot as a delightful side dish alongside your favorite protein!
