Ingredients

4 slices of sourdough bread

1 cup fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced

1 medium ripe tomato, sliced

1 cup fresh basil leaves

1/4 cup balsamic glaze

2 tablespoons olive oil

Salt and pepper to taste

Optional: Pinch of garlic powder for extra flavor

Instructions

Prepare the Bread: Start by preheating your grill or panini press. While it heats, brush one side of each slice of sourdough bread with olive oil. This will give your sandwich a crispy, golden crust.

Layer Ingredients: On the un-oiled side of two slices of bread, layer the fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced tomatoes, and basil leaves. Drizzle a spoonful of balsamic glaze over the basil, and sprinkle with a pinch of salt, pepper, and optional garlic powder for additional flavor.

Top and Assemble: Place the other two slices of bread on top (oiled side up) to complete the sandwich.

Grill the Sandwich: Carefully place the assembled sandwiches on the grill or in your panini press. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted. If using a grill pan, press down slightly with a spatula to ensure even grilling.

Serve: Once done, remove from the heat and let cool for about a minute before slicing in half. Drizzle a little more balsamic glaze on top if desired for presentation.

Enjoy: Serve hot, either on its own or with a side of mixed greens for a refreshing complement.
