Ingredients

4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup soy sauce

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

1 teaspoon sesame oil

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, sesame oil, black pepper, and salt until well combined.

Marinate the Chicken: Place the chicken thighs in a resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Seal the bag (removing excess air) or cover the dish, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for maximum flavor.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Sear the Chicken Thighs: In a large oven-safe skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the chicken thighs skin-side down and sear for about 5-7 minutes, or until the skin is golden brown.

Add Marinade: Carefully flip the chicken thighs over and pour the reserved marinade over them. Make sure to spoon a bit of the marinade over each thigh for even coverage.

Bake: Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (the internal temperature should reach 165°F / 74°C) and the skin is crispy.

Glaze the Chicken: In the last 5 minutes of cooking, turn the broiler on to caramelize the top of the chicken thighs for extra crispiness. Keep a close eye to prevent burning.

Rest and Serve: Once done, remove the skillet from the oven and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes. Serve garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Enjoy with rice or steamed vegetables!
