Ingredients

1 pound ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

1 package (1 sheet) puff pastry, thawed

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

12 small slices of dill pickle (optional)

Ketchup and mustard (for serving)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Cook the Beef Filling: In a skillet over medium heat, add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until fragrant. Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.

Season the Beef: Stir in Worcestershire sauce and season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Mix in shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.

Prepare the Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheet to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut the pastry into 3x3 inch squares.

Assemble the Puffs: Place about 1 tablespoon of the beef mixture in the center of each pastry square. If using, add a slice of dill pickle on top of the beef. Fold the corners of the pastry squares over the filling to form a little pocket and pinch the edges to seal well.

Brush with Egg Wash: Place the puffs on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a golden finish.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the puffs are golden brown and flaky.

Serve: Let the cheeseburger puffs cool for a few minutes. Serve them warm with ketchup and mustard on the side for dipping.
