Ingredients

1 tube (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough

1 pound breakfast sausage (mild or spicy, as preferred)

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 cup milk (whole or 2%)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)

Fresh parsley or chives for garnish (optional)

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare Biscuits: Open the tube of biscuit dough and separate the biscuits. Using a rolling pin or your hands, flatten each biscuit slightly.

Form Biscuit Nests: Place the flattened biscuits into the cups of a muffin pan, pressing them down to form a sturdy base and sides. This will create little nests that hold the sausage gravy.

Bake Biscuit Nests: Place the muffin pan in the preheated oven and bake the biscuits for about 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden brown. Remove from the oven and set aside.

Cook Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, crumble the breakfast sausage and cook until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Ensure to drain any excess grease if necessary.

Make Gravy: Once the sausage is cooked, sprinkle the flour over the sausage, stir well and cook for an additional minute. Gradually pour in the milk while stirring continuously to prevent lumps. Add garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Continue to cook while stirring until the mixture thickens to a gravy consistency, about 3-5 minutes.

Fill Biscuit Nests: Spoon the sausage gravy into each biscuit nest until they are generously filled. If desired, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.

Final Bake: Return the muffin pan to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Garnish and Serve: Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives for added flavor and presentation. Serve warm.
