Ingredients

2 cups mini pretzels

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup butterscotch chips

1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)

1 cup packed brown sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp sea salt (plus more for topping)

1/4 cup crushed pretzels (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Baking Sheet: Line a 9x13 inch baking dish with parchment paper. This will help you remove the bark easily once it has set.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Arrange the Pretzels: Spread the mini pretzels evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Make the Caramel Base: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Once melted, stir in the brown sugar and mix until well combined. Cook for 2-3 minutes, consistently stirring, until the mixture starts to bubble.

Add Flavors: Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and 1/2 tsp of sea salt. Pour the hot caramel sauce evenly over the pretzels, gently spreading it to cover them without clumping.

Bake the Caramel Pretzel Layer: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 5-7 minutes, just until the caramel is bubbly all over. Watch carefully to prevent burning.

Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips and butterscotch chips. Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring between each, until the mixture is smooth and melted.

Top the Pretzel Layer: Carefully pour the melted chocolate and butterscotch mixture over the baked pretzel and caramel layer, spreading it evenly with a spatula.

Add Finishing Touches: Sprinkle the crushed pretzels and a pinch of sea salt over the top for added texture and flavor.

Chill: Allow the bark to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, then place it in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to fully set.

Break and Serve: Once set, remove the bark from the baking dish using the parchment paper. Break into pieces of your desired size and serve. Enjoy your sweet and salty treat!
