Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20)

1 cup finely chopped mushrooms (preferably cremini or button)

1/2 cup finely chopped onion

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Salt and pepper, to taste

4 slices Swiss cheese

4 hamburger buns

2 tablespoons olive oil (for sautéing)

Lettuce, tomato, and condiments of choice (for serving)

Instructions

Sauté the Vegetables: Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped mushrooms and onions. Sauté for about 5-6 minutes until the mushrooms release their moisture and the onions turn translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Prepare the Burger Patties: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, sautéed mushroom mixture, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined; be careful not to overwork the meat.

Form Patties: Divide the mixture into four equal portions and gently shape them into burger patties. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

Cook the Burgers: Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each burger and cover to let it melt.

Toast the Buns (optional): If desired, place the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster for a few minutes until golden brown.

Assemble the Burgers: Place each cheesy patty on a toasted bun and top with lettuce, tomato, and any other condiments you prefer.

Serve: Enjoy these savory mushroom and Swiss burgers with your favorite side!
