Aromatics are foundational to any great dish, and in the Tex-Mex Sweet Potato Skillet, onions and garlic play a pivotal role in developing an enticing flavor profile. Begin by finely chopping one medium onion and mincing three cloves of garlic. When sautéed in olive oil, the onion sweats and caramelizes, releasing natural sugars that add depth and sweetness to the dish. Meanwhile, garlic brings a robust, savory note that complements the sweetness of the sweet potatoes beautifully.
