8 oz (225 g) rotini or fusilli pasta

2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved

1 cup fresh basil leaves, torn

1/2 cup red onion, finely diced

1 cup mozzarella balls (bocconcini), halved

1/2 cup Kalamata olives, pitted and sliced

1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

1 teaspoon garlic powder

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions
 

Cook the Pasta: In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water to stop the cooking process. Set aside.

    Prepare the Veggies: While the pasta is cooking, halve the cherry tomatoes, finely dice the red onion, and tear the fresh basil leaves into smaller pieces.

      Mix the Salad: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta, cherry tomatoes, red onion, mozzarella balls, and Kalamata olives. Toss gently to combine all the ingredients.

        Make the Dressing: In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic powder, salt, freshly ground black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Adjust seasoning to taste.

          Combine: Pour the dressing over the pasta salad and toss well to ensure everything is evenly coated. Add in the torn basil and gently mix until evenly distributed.
